Ardeas Cocoi

Like other herons and egrets, the four-foot-tall Cocoi Heron spends its days along rivers, lakes and marshes. Patiently watching fish, frogs and other small animals, it gives them a quick swipe with its dagger-like beak

The ardea cocoi lives from Panama to Chile. Like other herons, the Cocoi nests in colonies, usually near large lakes. It has few natural predators, although black caimans, anacondas and big cats would not pass up the opportunity to catch one, if given the opportunity.

At the world level there are some similar species of cocois… ardea cinnerea in the northern part of Europe, ardea goliath in Africa, ardea herodias in the southern part of the USA and ardea cocoi in South America.
